Dárē is a Nigerian-American visual artist based in Dallas, Texas. With over a decade of experience, he specializes in figurative painting, focusing on emotive portraiture and social realism. His work is deeply influenced by his Nigerian heritage and his experiences living in the West, drawing inspiration from the artistic cultures of Ilé-Ifè, Lagos, London, Berlin, Amsterdam, and numerous cities across the United States, where he currently resides. Dárē’s figurative works serve as a response to his internal struggles as an artist, challenging the artistic status quowhile engaging with socio-cultural issues. His paintings are characterized by their rich complexity, depicting figures in a carefully curated tableau vivant, infused with raw emotion and a vivid color palette. His mastery of intricate brushwork, developed over the past decade, allows him to render his subjects with both precision and depth.
